THE HIDDEN TREASURES CULINARY TOURS
Culinary Tour through Puglia Basilicata
From the stunning coastline of Puglia to the green mountains of Basilicata, the great diversity of landscapes in these two beautiful southern Italian regions is also reflected in their culinary tradition and variety. Well known are “Orecchiette” pasta, “Caciocavallo” cheese, olive oil, bread and many other exquisite products.
The gourmet tour starts with a typical “AperiCena” in Bari, the fascinating capital of Puglia. During a culinary city walk through the city as well as a cooking class we will not only discover Apulian cuisine, but also its unique hospitality.
As the largest olive oil producer in Italy, the production of the “green gold” oil, has a very special meaning in Puglia – the gourmet tour takes this fact into account, with a visit to an olive oil producer. A culinary walk through Altamura introduces us to local specialties – first and foremost the famous bread of Altamura.
Also known for its bread – made from twice-ground semolina – is Matera. This magic cave town in the Basilicata region was the European Capital of Culture in 2019. A walk through the town will be followed by a tasting of local cheese specialties such as caciocavallo or pecorino.
The tour includes two carefully selected accommodations in Bari and Matera, that will ensure a comfortable and relaxing stay. Private transfers during the entire tour as well as an experienced tour leader will contribute to a particularly comfortable and unforgettable travel experience.
