Our Art Retreat in Puglia combines creative workshops with authentic cultural experiences, traditional craftsmanship and the flavours of Southern Italy. Set between the Adriatic coast, historic towns and centuries-old olive groves, the programme offers the opportunity to explore one of Italy’s most distinctive regions through art, local traditions and Mediterranean lifestyle.

Led by artist Jasmin Dobrovsky, the Art Retreat includes acrylic, watercolor and ink workshops, including painting sessions at carefully selected locations throughout the region.

Highlights include the charming coastal town of Monopoli, with its picturesque harbour and historic old town, and Alberobello, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its iconic Trulli – the traditional whitewashed limestone houses with their distinctive conical roofs that have become one of the most recognisable symbols of Puglia.

Alongside the painting programme, the retreat offers an introduction to Puglia’s rich artistic and artisan traditions, providing opportunities to meet local craftspeople and discover techniques that have been passed down through generations.

A visit to Grottaglie, one of Italy’s most important centres of ceramic production, offers an insight into the region’s long-established pottery tradition. Participants paint their own Pumo – the characteristic ceramic ornament found throughout Puglia.

The retreat also includes time in the elegant Baroque city of Lecce, often referred to as the Florence of the South. A walk through its historic centre reveals the city’s magnificent churches, palaces, squares and artisan traditions before joining a hands-on workshop on Pietra Leccese. This soft local limestone has shaped Lecce’s architecture and sculpture for centuries and continues to play an important role in the region’s artistic identity.

The culinary culture of Puglia forms an essential part of the retreat. Carefully selected restaurants showcase the diversity of local cuisine, while tastings of typical products introduce participants to the flavours that define Southern Italy. A cooking class provides the opportunity to prepare typical Italian dishes using fresh local ingredients before enjoying them together. An authentic aperitivo and shared dinners complete the culinary programme and reflect the warmth and hospitality for which Puglia is known.

The itinerary also leaves time to experience the region at a relaxed pace. Whether enjoying a stroll through Monopoli’s narrow streets, spending time by the Adriatic Sea, visiting local cafés, browsing artisan shops or simply soaking up the atmosphere of a lively piazza, the retreat embraces the philosophy of la dolce vita. Moments of creativity alternate with moments of relaxation, creating a balanced programme that encourages participants to slow down and fully appreciate their surroundings.

Throughout the journey, a tour leader with extensive local knowledge accompanies the group, ensuring smooth organisation while sharing insights into the culture, history and everyday life in Italy.
